SAK Classic vs. Classic SD

They are the same knife with the exeption that the sd designation means a small screw driver on the end of the nailfile blade. Either one is a mighty mite of knifedom, capable of alot of cutting/snipping/small screwing jobs that you would think a larger knife is needed. With the exeption of heavy construction or mule skinning, a classic will do 90 to 95% of your edc jobs.

Thanks Jackknife. Just bought an SD. I know about SAK quality as I own at least 4 at this time, but needed a little guy with scissors. Also, remember, we do talk about them over on Traditionals from time to time... ;)

I was just looking at the SD last night. $9.99 on Amazon. It made me think, anyone know where to get these even cheaper? I'd like to have some of these around as give aways to friends and family when they express an interest in whatever knife I may be carrying that day. I don't want to give them away at $10 a pop though. How many in a case? Maybe if it's a dozen or so I could go that route, but from who?

See if you can get a bulk deal from FelineVet or DaveMackAOL (well-regarded eBay sellers) or perhaps from somebody over on SOSAK. If nothing else, you should be able to get a steep discount on postage... Ten of those must weigh about 4 ounces. :D

I bought my Classics (really Classic SD) on eBay as TSA confiscations. They came out to 25 cents a piece, and shipping was included with a few other knives I bought, one of which happened to be a Leatherman PST with a stamping error, that was in Like New Condition.

Just a quick note about the SD and regular Classics...

If you want a nail file that is also good for cleaning under your fingernails, then I would suggest that you consider closely whether or not the SD will really work for you. For me, at least, the "SD" style nail file is much less effective as a nail cleaning tool than the non-SD style nail file.

Just in case it matters to you. YMMV.
