Hello folks. I know I don't post much but I'm always lurking and love BladeForums.com, love the sub forum about multitools about Swiss Army knives, and also about traditionals.

My first Victorinox must have been when I was 12 and I really can't remember the model. Probably had four layers because it was a bit thick. I've recently come back full circle after collecting many production folders of medium to high value. About a month ago I bought my first one handed trekker. Today I receive my Pioneer Alox and I'm in love all over again with SAKs, so much so that probably it will be all the knife I carry. I do take a CS Counter Point 1 when walking the dogs (and always carry my Glock G19 as well), but for EDC you can't beat the pioneer.

My next purchase will be a Farmer, hopefully in a different color than silver. I wanted to attach a pic using my phone and tapatalk but apparently the forum doesn't allow pics to be added this way.

Welcome back friend! You're not alone, I recently came back full circle myself. Alox pox is running rampant! Watch out for those farmers and pioneers, you can never buy just one.

I forgot about a gifted huntsman with all bells and whistles. Mini screwdriver in the corkscrew, needle hidden in the needle hole, came with a great leather sheath combo for mini maglight but i replaced the torch with a ferrocium fire striker. It also came with a victorinox compass/thermometer/magnifying glass. It rocks!

I have pictures i want to share but unlike other forums on talpatalk, this forum won't let me attach directly from phone! Boo

91m/m Tinker and a Bundeswehr model of the One Hand Trekker. A bit of overlap on the tools, but sometimes small is too small, and big is too big.

I think you will love your Pioneer as I love mine. Asked for and got it for Christmas and carry it most of the time since. I have a red Farmer I got on sale at the big Tennessee store a few years ago, but I hadn't carried it much as it didn't have a Phillips screwdriver like my Tinker and Hiker. Then I saw some guys on this forum saying the little screwdriver on the end of the can-opener worked with most Phillips screws. Tried it and found it to be true. Now I carry the Farmer outdoors and the Pioneer indoors. I have a bunch of traditionals I miss and still carry sometimes, but the SAKs are much handier. One caution: some of these guys get carried away with collecting different colors, and some colors are hard to find and pricey. Also, most of the color wears off pretty quickly, although some say that just adds character. But the plain silver is usually cheaper and keeps
looking new for a long time. Hope you enjoy your Alox as much as I do.

You WILL love it!! :D

Very slippery slope indeed, isn't it SAK Guy? Lol.

I've had to separate my alox models. Only way I can account for the fact that they seem to multiply so often, is they must be breeding down there when the lights go out. What else would account for the little alox 58mm ones?
;)

I love the alox models, but when are they coming out with additional colors? I have been hearing for a couple of years that they will be releasing new alox colors, but the only ones other than the common colors that I have seen go for really high prices in online auctions. Not sure if they're customs, special releases, or what. I would think that they would sell well if they were released in decent-sized batches.

LOL!!!! Very!

You might try saltpeter on their lanyards!!!!!!! :D

Colored Alox is few and far between. Especially here in the U.S. You need to be patient and keep your eyes peeled. Of course colored Alox would sell great but let's be honest saks sell great regardless. Victorinox sells more knives then any other company, in fact they most likely sell more then the next top 3 company's combined. So at least for now it's relegated down to exclusive runs and sfo's. For me sometimes the hunt is the best part.

hatch, I'd probably be a guy who'd "get carried away with collecting different colors" if I wasn't so bad at finding them. :o For example, I could buy a perfectly functional silver Farmer for under $30, but contemplate paying 3 or 4 times that or more for a colored version. So I'm glad to hear your "voice of reason" in the words I highlighted above! ;)

I LOVE that Pioneer in the heart-shaped lanyard pic, SAK Guy!:thumbup: That's a classic IMHO. The other photo just gives me a sore chin when my jaw hits the floor!:eek::p:thumbup:

Joe, I'm a county-approved SAK foster parent if the offspring become too much for you! :D:D

You're a silver-tongued devil, SAK Guy! :p:p

Good advice, Captain. Patience is not something I'm very good at with this knife stuff, even though in the rest of my life I've been a relatively patient guy (some people even call me Job). Maybe I should defer my longing for colored alox for a few years and get serious about it after I retire and have more time to devote to keeping my eyes peeled!

Nice looking SAKs guys! Yup I got the fever alright. Been looking for a color farmer south of $60. Had the chance of winning a black one on eBay but got distracted and lost the auction. It sold for under $50!!! Might just bite the bullet and buy the silver farmer.

The pioneer is a great edc, so great in fact that I don't carry any other knives and I have plenty as I live in US and I'm not limited in many ways. Love my pioneer great knife and I can put a scary edge on it with no effort.

The Pioneer is probably my most favourite SAK. My first SAK was a Huntsman that my parents gave me and the second was a 2002 Soldier that I bought myself. For me the Pioneer has the tools that I used most on a daily basis and I like its size and weight. The last SAK that I bought was the black Pioneer on top of this picture.

I am also a somewhat new collector to SAK knives. My best find was a blue S. African Pioneer for $45 on eBay. The seller didn't title the piece right and I just happened to stumble upon it! When I got it in the mail to my suprise it wasn't a Pioneer, but a Blue Alox Farmer! What a find indeed. Love those rare surprises!
