Good morning everyone, i'd like to ask to the community their opinion about wich victorinox 111 is the most suitable for Special Day Carry (outdoor's trips, adventure travels in europe with car or bus or field work)
The 2 options are Victorinox Hunter and Victorinox Hunter xt,my comparison:
They both share a good blade,a good saw,a gut blade useful for my needs (cut cordage, zipties and rescue blade) and a corkscrew.
The differences:
The Hunter has the awl wich can be used to punch holes in sheet of plastic wich can be ziptied together for little repairs, allow you to make wood working and little seams for clothes and backpack repairs, and the combo bottle opener/flat screwdriver for ready for use plus it have a non aggressive look
The Hunter XT lack of the bottle opener/screwdrives,wich can be replaced by a separate tool like a Gerber Shard but there is no replace for the awl but the holes for one hand opening allow you to use the knife with gloves on thing that is impossible with the Hunter, the look is a little intimidating, wich complicate thing when you have to explain why you carry the knife

Your opinion?
Hunter or Hunter XT?

I’ve never had a Hunter XT, but I’ve had a Hunter for 18 years now. While I do primarily use it for hunting, the other tools have come in handy when out in the field. I’ve used the gut hook on moose, bear, elk, deer and antelope. It worked as intended so I never understood the need for a larger one on the XT. You mentioned travel in Europe, to which I’ve never been. But I’ve heard some countries had restrictions on locking blades or blade length? Since they both have locking blades it may be a moot point, but may be worth checking out the rules to see if they both can be carried.
