While looking at the Victorinox website I was looking at the new army soldier's knife and it seems to just be a one handed trekker with green scales. Is this an accurate description or am I missing some other great or just hidden to me variation of the numerous SAK models?

That is a quite accurate description, but if you look at the scales, there is also black rubber (?) added to the scales for more grip.

Aside from the grip, as mentioned by Harayasu, the Solider is missing the toothpick and tweezers, and has a slightly rounder thumb-hole on the new soldier. I really like the new Soldier except for the serrated blade.

The German Army issue piece is identical but without the rubberized handle and a German Eagle marking. They've had that for a couple of years now. So probably about time that the Swiss Army started carrying something similar. :)

I am quite fond of the one-handed Trekker with a plain edge large balde. It has everything on it I normally might need.

My knife nut buddy traded into one while he and I were on our knife vacation. He is really liking it so far, and I was very impressed with it:thumbup:. Very smooth action! If I had to go with one knife only I think this would be the one!

I can't get my head around why they would remove the tweezers. You can find good use for those in the field! Its the main reason i carry a second multi tool(vic centurion)on me along with a main tool.

in the military, if something is not nailed down, strapped or welded to something large, IT WILL GET LOST.

Exactly.

Most Joes would lose them. If it was issued for use, but not personally owned by Joe, then the tweezers would mysteriously disappear & end up in Joe's pocket.
