What kind of lock does the SAK One Handed Sentinel have, and where is the release located, near the top or the bottom? I'm told the older versions had a liner lock, but this version has a flange marked "press" at the bottom.

The reason I ask is that I am recently paralyzed on my left side, and can only use one hand. If the release is like a liner lock--i.e. near the top--no problem. But if it's at the bottom, and I need two hands to use it, that would be difficult for me.

My thanks.

I have the Rescue Knife which has the same kind of set up (flange marked "press")....one handed operation shouldn't pose a problem

You didn't say what price you are looking for but may I suggest a benchmade griptillian. With the axis lock it is very easy to use with one hand.

I have the SAK one hand Sentinel.

It's a great knife for the money IMO, but it's not easy to close with one hand.
You have to push the sturdy liner past the tang, and then you have to overcome the pressure of the backspring.
If the knife didn't have a traditional backspring in addition to the liner lock, it would be a different story.

I'd recommend you look at a regular linerlock, framelock, or the above mentioned Axis Lock.

I use OHT (which is similar to Sentinel), and very handy (one hand closing is no problem with practice .. although I'm right handed)
