I am wanting to buy a SAK one handed trekker or parachutist. Anyone have any experience with any of the SAK one handers??

I'm sure Lavan will chime in any second here. You'll find that he's a big fan of the OHTrekker. I am too, especially now that I put a clip on one.:) I found that it's just too big to sit at the bottom of a pocket. Does that awful perpendicular-to-the-thigh move. Can't stand it. But with a super low profile pocket clip, that great big knife rides comfortably in the RR pocket of even my suit slacks, and nobody's the wiser.

I like the selection of tools on the Trekker. I also carry sometimes a Soldier, which is nearly perfect, except for the one-hand opening problem. And I like a saw sometimes if I'm hanging out carving a little wood or something. Bottom line, I bet you won't be disappointed.

Especially at that price (found the best price on the net, taking shipping into account, at qvc.com... go figure)!

About 4 3/4 closed, but really it's not that bad;I carry one everyday here on my place (it's 64.7 acers of woods) and use it as a "rough use" knife, works great on roots;vines;and what have you and it has just enough tools to be useful.:D

Guys,

The secret to carrying one of the larger locking SAKS is to let it ride vertically toward the groin side of the front pocket, with it held in that position with a large bandana folded up (folded so that it's twice as tall as it is wide) right next to it toward the outside of the pocket. I do this all the time with blue jeans, and it is not uncomfortable in the least. With dress pants, a locking SAK is too large for me, but with blue jeans, no problem.

The bandana comes in handy for other uses as well from time to time.

I am in full agreement that if the large, locking SAK is left on its own to bounce around sideways in the bottom of the pocket, it is a real pain.

Paulwesley, I've got a One-handed Trailmaster (now called the One-handed Trekker) and love it. It does take a little getting used to when opening, and it'll never be as easy to me as a Manix or a Military, but you can learn to live with it. The opening is a bit more difficult if you're right handed, but not too bad. It's easier to close with two hands, but certainly doable with one.

i just bought a trailmaster. Is it normal for it to have a little blade play. I checked out 3 brtand new ones and they all had a little. Is that normal though...its not too irritating

I carry mine in my upper right BDU shirt-jac or if I bring it to town a belt pouch,in the house? just drop it into my sweat pants pocket.:D
