Which of these three knives gets reccomended the most here despite being CLEARY NOT what the OP is looking for?

I see it nearly every day here on the forum and it usually goes something like this:

OP: I'm looking for a heavy duty chopper to take camping....

Multiple users reply: Mora!

OP: I need a single bladed locking folder....

5 people respond: SAK!

OP: Looking for a solid one handed folder that I can use for EDC and self defense...

7 posters suggest: Opinel!

What is it about these three knives that causes their proponents to reccomend them for everything although they CLEARLY do not fit the intended criteria?

It would be like going to a gun forum, asking for advice on a semi auto self defense pistol and having 7 posters respond, Colt Python! or Beretta Silver Pigeon!

Can you imagine going to an automotive forum and asking for reccomendations for a 4x4 pickup and having people respond, Toyota Prius! or Chevette!?

You would think the posters had lost their damn minds.

All of the above. Any question ever asked for all eternity can be answered with SAK, Opinel, or Mora. :D

I've said it many times on this forum- the answer is always sak, opinel or mora. It's one of those mysteries that makes life interesting.

One of each! ;)
I think Opinel comes up the most... Probably because Opinel, Mora, and SAKs are so inexpensive, yet very efficient. Not made in China, either. Or people are just stuck on them for those reasons or others, and want to convince others that they really are that good.
I have one Mora currently, and it is pretty decent. Depending on intended use, I think it could hold its own against other fixed blades. But again, it depends on what it's intended for.
There are actually single-blade locking SAKs available, just not very common/popular.
Some people think Opinel is the answer to everything. I have one, thought it would be cool because the handles can be totally customized... Never really stuck with me.
I definitely think each of the above are decent in their own ways, but not as an answer to everything, especially if someone isn't into traditionals.

Knife hipsters.

What you all don't realize is that those three knives are all in the "Ark of the Covenant" along with the 10 commandments. The reason those peoples faces melted off in Raiders of the Lost Ark is because they thought there was a Sebenza in there.

Personally I think they are all great knives, but not the "end all, be all" that some people make them out to be.

It's really not limited to these knives.
If the OP says, "I don't like Spyderco, I'm looking for an EDC round 150" a bunch of posters will say "PM2, you'll grow to love it".
