Hi guys I just ordered a victorinox outrider camo version model 55731 from amazon , now I don't know what I will get! I just noticed on youtube that the red version with the corkscrew has some kind of button on the back. smartknives.com and other sites don't say if this 111m has a locking main screwdriver or not. I can not find a picture of the back of this model. I thought I was getting a trekker with and extra scissors and small philips screwdriver . Maybe I should just cancel the order.Does anybody know about this knife? Update: I just found out that the regular red outrider is a sidelock and the main screwdriver does not lock like the trekker. Not good. The camo is a slightly different model wilth no corkscrew . Has any one seen the back of it?

Button that you refer to is for locking main knife blade only. It is different locking setup than in Trekker.

My camo outrider has the button lock and the screwdriver does not lock.

Hi Barry -

The phillips screwdriver on the Outrider is "under" the scissors, so you move the scissors up and out of the way, then press on a nub on the blade of the screwdriver to move it up, then you fully deploy it manually.

The spring on the phillips is very strong, and while it does not lock per se, it snaps open with authority and is a confident tool to use. I just used it tonight as a matter of fact.

To mqqn I was not clear enough. By main screwdriver I meant the bottle opener and 6mm plain screwdriver opposite the main blade. By the way there is a very interesting email from Victorinox about the slide lock mechanism, ...not strong!! ... It is at SAKWiki.com, home page, scroll down to knife list, then go to 111mm slide lock models, then go to outrider model, then scroll down 12 lines to "slide lock " link about slide locks ,near the bottom of that page is an email from Victorinox about the differences in strength between the 111mm liner lock models and slide lock models. It's surprising. There should be a sticky about it. Maybe more knowledgeable guys could comment about it.
