Okay, in an attempt to slim down my EDC, should I go with a SAK with pliers or stick with my Swiss tool Spirit? Thanks

Any problems with the Spirit's pliers for detail work? (a la, emergency jewelry repairs, etc?)

I have never really been a fan of the SAK pliers. I have always felt that they were shrunken tongs. I know there are a variety of people who love the pliers on SAKs but I am not a fan. I prefer the pliers on a Leatherman, Swisstool, etc.

At least for me, I don't have a daily need for pliers. That's why my EDC is a Vic Rucksack and not my Gerber multi. It comes with me on duty though. Everyone's situation is different. I do have a Swiss-Tech Microtechnician attached to my keyring and have used the pliers on occasion. Not ideal, but served the purpose.

I think that the slightly greater bulk of the Spirit is well worth the added utility of full size pliers and wire cutters.

The pliers on SAK's seem to remind me of toy Cool Tools pliers they sold at toy stores when I was young, sizewise anyways. They may be good for really precise work, but for overall brute use and finer stuff, I would say the full size multi-tool would be a better choice.
