I wouldn't be surprised to see prices go up if the Swiss franc is doing well relative to the dollar. The fact is, I have always been surprised that they have stayed so affordable and maintained quality.

My understanding is that there has been a recent change by Victorinox on their MAP (minimum advertised price) policy.
It seems that some retailers were selling at VERY low margins and devaluing the brand while other retailers made next to nothing to keep their prices competitive.

I'm glad to see the prices go up, otherwise there could be a decline in quality. i know 40+ year old victorinox's seem to have a better steel, and more seem more solid. not to say anything against the quality of the current production. ;D
