Maybe my english isn't perfect, but...

I cannot understand, as I have never had one, if Soldiers and Pioneers and etc. are made of metal or a synthetic material.

What do alox and eloxy mean? A Google search didn't help.

And also...

Is there any information about cellidor? Chemical, historical, etc...

Thanx

Alox stands for Aluminum Oxide (if I'm not mistaken) whick means that it has a semi hard surface that is durable and scratch resistant.

Someone wilth a bit more insight should reply soon :)

For cellidor, I found this a few months back.

Original:

Cellidor

Google translation:

Cellidor
is a hard and very smooth material from natural cellulose (cotton or wood fibers; Caution with contact with corrosive materials such as mosquito means etc.). With Victorinox as grasp material for its famous officer measurers one uses.

I can attest to the fact that cellidor and DEET do not mix. But some 0000 steel wool and some brasso will fix it up nicely.

Hi,

The term "Alox" describes an aluminum scale (handle) which has been anodized to create a wear and corrosion resistant layer of aluminum oxide on its surface. This aluminum oxide has a rather silvery-gray appearance. The anodized layer is both thicker and denser than the naturally occuring aluminum oxide which forms on bare aluminum when exposed to the air, hence better protection for the base aluminum. One of the neat things about this layer of aluminum oxide is that it can be dyed in different colors as you can see on some of the red and black Victorinox scales and on the Leatherman Juice, Squirt and Micra products..

Hope this helps - Joe
