Having a couple of Fosters Oilcans the other night..., it occurred to me to try out the cap-lifter / can-opener of my copper Alox Lumberjack on the can tops. A couple of well placed slits, and the beer flowed like Niagara Falls. If you have ever "shotgunned" a beer..., you are familiar with the effect. Then I wondered if anyone else has ever discovered an accidental use for the world's most useful pocket tool(s). So..., how about it??? Any secret uses for Swiss Army Knife tools??? Everyone already knows about the straight pin hole in certain model scales, right????? WHAT ELSE?????

I don't know if it's much of a secret, but the corkscrew works great for undoing knots, especially on tennis shoes. The toothpick worked on the reset button on an old Mp3 player I had. The leather punch works fine reaming out a metal or wood screw hole. There's so much, anxious to hear what others have found.

I have also used the mystery hook as a marlin spike. The can opener can be used to open some watch backs. its not elegant, but it works.

My son found a good looking Classic lit model in white. Showed him how to remove the battery cover by pushing thru the hole opposite.
He then showed be that the top tip of the ink refill also did the same thing if battery present.

Could be done with most anything shinny:

He's far too humble to admit it, but I've heard SAK Guy has used the sling-shot method on a number of occasions, for small game and even self defense!

I use the hook on my Huntsman to open up packages I get in the mail. It works especially well with plastic tape, or tape that's reinforced with little threads. Instead of cutting, it basically tears all the tape off, pretty cleanly, and doesn't risk the contents at all!
I've got to be honest though, I've been trying to find more and more uses for the little parcel hook.

Not sure if it has been mentioned, but the parcel hook is great for removing entrails from small game and fish.

I've used the "useless" parcel hook to lift hot pot lids and to tighten round laces. Someone somewhere mentioned using it as an improvised coat hanger.

Why, it's flattering that you remembered! That was in a toilet stall with the coat hook missing. I was able to thread the hook through the coat's hanging loop and anchor it in the open hole where the hook was supposed to be. Worked well enough. In addition, I've used it several times to help me lift wire baled straw and bundled newsprint. Can't say it has been the most used implement on my Swisschamp, but like everything else (except the back-mounted small screwdriver,) sometimes it gets to show its stuff.

That's pretty awesome. Got to try it... With a cheap bottle first. Thx for posting.

I tried this the other day, but failed miserably and managed to push the cork into the bottle, with a splash of wine on my face. :o

I think the sharper awl might work better. I will give it shot when I have the chance again.

Similar happened to me when I tried, munched up the cork in the attempt but was able to get the rest out with the SAK corkscrew. Putting it down to inexperience, I tried again with another bottle, but with the same result. So, don't toss your corkscrews just yet. As Mr. Natural advised: "Always use the right tool for the job, dummy."

I use mine SAK hook the same way, but I used a needle fine to sharpen the inside curve - works very well. Also good for those cursed "clam packs" (hard plastic packaging that everything seems to come in these days).
