Are the SAK Trekker and SAK Trailmaster the same knife? Is the Trailmaster an older but identical model?

I heard somewhere that they are identical, and that Victorinox first called it the "Trailmaster" but then had to change to calling it the "Trekker" because of copyright infringement issues with someone else's product.

In Europe, the "Trekker" model is still called "Trailmaster", and model "OneHand Trekker" calls "Trailmaster M": there is a version with "camo" scales, too.
Regards.

Ehrm, COLD STEEL!...:jerkit:

Umm ok so that clears up the name thing. A local shop has the trekker for sale. I kinda want it but i already have a swisschamp, a huntsman and a recruit, (plus a SOG paratool and leatherman micra and (old)wave). I'm thinking of buying it for EDC. but i don't really want the blade serrated (i have a spyderco for that). Anybody here own the trekker? Any opinions? Anybody mod the blade (get rid of the serrations?)

My Trekker has a few unique features
- liner locks on both the main blade AND the screwdriver/cap lifter
- the serations are on the end of the blade, not the base
- Spyderco type blade hole for one-hand opening
If it only had a pocket clip, it would be even handier.

I bought the regular Trekker - not the one handed. Have not used it yet but everything seems practically designed & a good combo of tools for general outdoor use. Good blade size. I agree about the lack of a clip. It is definitely bulky for a pocket carry.

You can now buy a plain edge One handed Trekker :D ( have a word with SwissBianco over at SOSAK ) . Failing that here is an article on how to remove the serrations http://www.sosakonline.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=31&Itemid=35

Thanks for the link! Cool site and I just registered at SOSAK too.
I'm thinking i will buy a Trekker this week.
Hmmm my old huntsman needs a new spring for the scissors. Anybody recommend an online dealer for parts? I don't see the springs at SOSAK.

Ooops a little bit of searching and i answered my own question. lots of SAK knives/parts suppliers online! And since my last post i internet-ordered the Trekker, 40$ (Canadian) at Mountain Equipment Co-op yesterday, i should have it by next week! WOOHOO!
