I wanted a knife just like an SAK Trekker, but with scissors. I got a pair of Fiskars #4 crafts scissors on Ebay for $3. They fit perfectly in the SAK nylon belt sheath with the knife. They make for better cutting than built-in scissors and weigh just 1/2oz.

I have an outrider and a OH fireman with the blade serrations ground off, I like both equally, because the fireman has the OH opening, rope cutter blade, and the liner lock, and the outrider just has great tool selection.

I was in the same boat and opted for the SAK Outrider.

Yup, I found the Outrider after buying a Trekker. Such is knifedom :)

I'd like to see a 111mm SAK with:

One handed plain blade
Saw
Scissors
File
Large screw driver (aka prybar)
Phillips
Awl
Can opener
Tweezers
Toothpick
Ferrocerium rod (to slide out of a scale)

I had one custom modded for me because I just *had* to have one, but the Outrider or Hercules is a cheaper, more logical solution.

Thats a pretty darn nice little knife. I prefer the staright edge over a serrated one any day.

I think of the Outrider as a Huntsman on steroids. I like the idea of a tiny firesteel to fit in one of the scales. That doesn't seem so difficult, if there's one that's small enough.

If Victorinox were doing it, the scales and firesteel could be made to work together. A little bump-out in the scales to fit a firesteel might make for a better grip too. The end of the firesteel could have a molded tip to fit the radius of the end of the scale like the toothpick. The screwdriver blade could have a striker knotch too.

WOW-- I just got a brainstorm-- make firesteels to fit in the corkscrews!

Dale, what an idea! I'd take a firesteel over the tiny screwdriver any day (although the micro-driver is useful). I think you need to make a call to Victorinox!
