I was taking a couple of my dogs for an off- leash run this morning. I decided to take a little short cut and led them through about 30 yards off tall grass and brush. Once we were through the rough stuff I unleashed the dogs and two things were very apparent.
My little shepherd dog was covered in stick-tights and my 7 month old retriever was walking on three legs. He was holding his front paw up so I knelt down and had a look. There was a thorn in his paw that was nearly flush with his pad. I could not grip it with my finger nails so out came my sak tweezers.
I was able to pull the thorn out on my second attempt and was shocked to see that the thorn was nearly 3/4 of an inch in length. No wonder he was holding his paw up.
Once the thorn was out he ran in a big circle around me to express his gratitude and show that he was ok. We went on with our dog run / woods walk and a good time was had by all. That's what I love about saks, they are so handy for dealing with life's little unexpected hiccups.
