I have been mentally working on several mod concepts. Somewhat to keep my mind of of current events. But I really want one of these pocket tool.

One concept involves the 84mm size. Along with several sharp blades I really want a finger nail cleaner and scissors.

The smooth handle versions do not have any scissors. The ones with sculpted handles do have scissors.

Do I recall correctly that the smooth handle versions are the Victorinox legacy brand and the sculpted versions are Wenger legacy brand?

Are the components interchangeable between the two versions?

During Wenger brand active years, there are different options for handles. IIRC, the "Evo" models are offered in 'scrupled' handles,, while most other models have smooth handles. Once Victorinox took over Wenger and eventually calling it the 'Delemont' series, most non-Evo models have ceased production and only scrupled handles are offered.

So as long the tool is in 85mm format, I think most tools should be interchangeable(whether they are under Wenger or Delemont), but they may or may not be interchangeable with Victorinox 91mm tools.

Yes, the Evo are Wegner models.
Word is that the machine that made scissors for Victorinox 84mm models is broken. I guess the unsaid part is that they won't fix or replace it.

I must admit, the concept of carrying two separate knives to have all the tools desired had not occured to me. Might be some merrit in that technique.

Are Wenger and Victorinox considered equal quality? Or is one considered better quality?

In terms of individual tool quality, I think they are quite close. The only con I can find on Wenger/Delemont is the tiny bit of play for the large blade lock, but it doesn't affect its security and generally I am really happy with the qualities for both.

On a side note, you'd probably already know this--even though they may have similar tools, how individual tool functions and design do vary between the two brands.
