Like many here, I grew up with SAKs. Plus, I was born in Switzerland, I studied in Switzerland, I have two daughters living there, love the country, the mountains, the food, etc. I do have to admit that - even though German - of the four parts, I like la Suisse Romande best :).

Obviously, I have plenty of modern knives, but have always kept a SAK or two accessible. Until a couple of years ago: I bought a Boker Plus Tech-Tool, then a second one, and my SAKs were done.

The Boker has better scales, a screw construction, arguably better steel, and even a main blade shape that I like better.

Yet, on BF, the Boker Plus is mentioned rarely, if at all. Why is that ? Cheers,

Roland.

PS: or did I just have too many SAKs ? Like, I don't much care for blondes, maybe because my two sisters are ? 🤣

I have had three of those Tech-Tools, still got a couple, great little knives

However, their pocket-clips will get this thread canned I think (see the sub-forum guidelines).

Well, the smaller one in the pic has the clip removed, and that's how I use it. Plus there are plenty of people who add clips to their SAKs, no ?

I've taken the clips off mine too, they get in the way, but them's the rules, and they've been covered here many times before. To stay within the rules you'd need to edit the photo and your opening post

Done. Thank you !
Well done :)

I like them a lot, preferring the Drop-Point main to the SAK Spear, and they certainly come SHARP! Good quality tools too. I haven't carried mine in a while, but that's simply oversight (and having too many knives), but I gave one to a pal, and he is never without it

What tools does the Boker Plus have?

My favorite SAK is the Huntsman, for the scissors and wood saw.

I'm thinking of getting a mustache/beard scissors, and a folding wood saw tho. The awl/punch position on a SAK leaves a great deal to be desired. The punch/awl is probably my most used utility knife blade. Works great to remove 🤬 goatshead thorns 🤬 from my adult trike, bicycle, and bicycle cargo trailer tires.

There is a bunch of different configurations. The "Outdoor 4", for example, has scissors and wood saw.

I have a tech tool that I bought for my birthday 6 or 7 years ago, I think. I really like it. I find that when you get down to the most basic of basic tools, it is superior to the SAK in a lot of ways...and I do LOVE Swiss Army Knives:) But the Tech Tool sports a bit more blade, better steel, and just feels really polished. If it did not come with a Made In China sticker on the box it came in, I would have sworn it was German-made. Fit and finish are top notch.

I actually used mine on an impromptu romantic evening with my wife 5 or 6 years ago. We were staying on property in a lodge the evening before an outdoor wedding. We weren't really planning on it, but the september air was warm and the evening clear. We dashed across the street and bought the finest $11 bottle of red wine CVS had, my wife raided the galley kitchen for plastic solo cups, and we sat out by the lake at a picnic table. I used the Tech Tool to open the wine bottle and we sipped our drinks and listened to the frogs and bugs while the "candle light" of a trusty zippo lighter burned;)

Tech Tool saved the day. Had I not packed it, we wouldn't have been able to get into the wine:D

I keep saying, I wouldn't be married to my wife, if my SAK back then didn't have a cork-screw ;)
