I have been looking for an older model Victorinox with red Alox handles that was discontinued many years ago. It was approx. 3" long with two blades, one a clip the other a pen style. I have also seen two blades with both clips. Does anyone know the model name or number? Any suggestions for locating a possible source? My Dad used to carry one and he lost it. I would like to suprise him with a replacement ,if possible. Any feedback would be appreciated!
Thanks! Dave
PS: It was very thin and light.

Sounds like the Victorinox Pioneer, red alox handles, two blades, bottle opener, can opener, key ring.

Try the fellows at 1SKS.com, they run this place and carry a good stock at good prices. Good luck and take care.

James

The Victorinox Secretary has a pen and main blade only, with silver alox handles. Scroll down a bit on this page to find it.

And welcome to the forums!

stjames, thanks for the reply. I believe the model is similiar to the Secretary that you mentioned. It only had two blades bot it had shiny red Al handles. If I can't locate the same model I will get the Secretary. I know it was fairly old and I am sure they don't make it anymore. Thanks for your help! I have been away from the forums for a long time but intend to return more frequently. Dave

Hi Dave. I asked the same question some time ago here on the forums. In the meantime, I found the knife at Gandermountain. It is made by Wenger and I believe the model name is the Patriot. The handles are red alox and it has two blades: a main spear blade and a small pen blade. If you're interested, I can send you a photo. The knife is extremely thin. I know that Victorinox has a similar model (virtually identical to the Pocket Pal but with metal handles), but I haven't been able to find it or even to find out it's name.

Hi Dan: Thanks! A pic would be greta if it is not too much trouble. I will search for a Wenger too. stjames suggested the Secretary but it has Silver Alox handles. They may be an option but I would like to find the same model. Thanks for your help!

Dave

I have both the Wenger Patriot and the Victorinox Secretary. Both are about the same size closed, the main difference is the Wenger's smaller blade is a clip blade. The Wenger is red, and the Secretary's blade/spring action feel smoother. Both are VERY thin and light.

Dave, I can't upload the photo here, but I'll be glad to email it to you if you send me your address.

If the model you're looking for is a full sized 91mm model, they're not imported into the US anymore. It is one of six or seven variations of the Pioneer series (like the Soldier models sold here.) They are available through www.swiss-knife.com . This company is in Switzerland and will ship post haste to the US. Their service is great and so are their prices.

I have the Pioneer with Soldier tools and a saw blade. It's one tough slipjoint and well worth their price. It's become a part of my EDC.

Regarding the full-size Pioneer series, I was about to order one from the swiss-knife website because I wanted the saw blade in an Alox handle, when I ran across one in one of the recently-opened Swiss Army stores. There's one in Manhattan, one in Westchester, NY, and I believe at least one in Connecticut. They carried a full selection of the Victorinox models, including all varieties of the Pioneer (as well as what looked like a harness knife - huge sewing needle and all), several pearl and horn handled models, and the huge OD handled one. They also carried some Benchmade and CRKT, as well as Klotzli, at the usual B&M prices. I believe they also had a good selection of fountain pens and Swiss Army watches. Locations can be found at http://www.swissarmy.com/ , under News. Happy hunting!

I would like to thank EVERYONE for the replies. I checked them all and they were helpful!

Dave In Pa : That is the exact knife... the Delemont. Now I will try to locate a new one.

Thanks again guys! Maybe I will try the knives wanted forum.
