I finally got off my behind and got to work on custom bloodwood scales on a Vic Spartan. The project went well minus a few bloopers but overall it was easier than I thought it would be. I had given some thought to keeping the tweezer and toothpick but decided it was a bit advanced for my first SAK mod. Maybe next time.

If you're thinking about a mod like this and don't already have a SAK you're willing to tear up, I highly recommend getting a used knife from felinevet. For $5 I had a excellent condition pre-owned SAK in my mailbox in less than a week.

How did you do the shield. I've moded a few SAK's the tooth pick and tweezer groove wasn't to difficult but I haven't figured out the shield.

thanks for the SOSAK link. Ive reclaimed the shields I'm just looking at your Bloodwood scales and it looks like you set the shield in the wood. If you did that's the cleanest inletting Ive ever seen.

The shield was not inletted. It was glued on the surface of the scale with Sumo Glue and clamped overnight. Low res photo and odd angle make it appear inletted.

Those scales really add some nice flavor to the SAK. Very nice.

cheers

Thanks for the pictures. If I can ever figure out the directions to put a picture in I'll post a pic. of my kydex neck sheath for vics.

Hey Guys..

Steve..

That's Awesome dude..
Nice Job!!!

As for the Shield...

Holy Crap!!!!

I didn't know they were like that I thought the were painted on...

How can I tell when buying SAKS online if it has this type of shield ??

Are they still made like that? or did they stop making them a certain year...

I think I've got a plan in mind!!!

Thanks

Thanks Normark.

I think all current cellidor handled Victorinox SAKs have an inletted metal shield. Nylon handles appear to be printed on.
