SAK with no tweezers/toothpick

I've got what looks like an old Victorinox Spartan which looks just like the current model except it has no tweezers or toothpick and the awl has no hole in it. The stamping on the blade says "Victorinox Switzerland Stainless Rostfrei" like the current model. Does anybody know roughly when it was made? Is it an old Spartan or some other model?

I have that old version of the Spartan. Another difference from the current models is that the part that the key ring connects to is part of the aluminum liner; in current versions that connecting part is part of the stainless steel backspring. But the plastic of the handle is sturdier than the current versions. I carried this knife for over ten years.

I had bought this old model brand new back in 1981. I don't think any of the other Victorinox SAK's had the toothpick/tweezers either at that time. I don't know when they were upgraded to the current versions, though.

Thanks for your reply James - early 80's makes sense and I think I can remember that I got it roughly at that time. The knife is at work and I'll double check the keyring part on Monday.

I bought 2 of those Spartans in the early 80's(they may have still been called Standards then). They were Christmas presents for my mom and sister. I sharpened my mom's last year and noticed the lack of the t&t. I don't remember if all of the Spartans from that time period did not have the t&t, but I just checked a NIB Hoffritz Spartan from that period that does not have them and also has the same keyring arrangement that James has on his. I have 2 Climbers from the 70's that have the t&t.

I've got the knife in question here now and there is no key ring lanyard at all. My vague recollection is that it is from 1982 but I'm not very sure about it.

In 1985 it asked for a SAK for Christmas. ( Macgyver fan) I got 5 of them. Spartan with no toothpick or tweezers.so you think maybe a (Standard)?

Wowsers. I hadn't even been a member at BFC but for 3 months when this was posted. Hell, I was at home getting my crap packed back up to head back to college for my senior year.

I was 3 months into my 12th birthday when this was posted🤣

In ‘02 I just learned what Benchmade was. But I wouldn’t own one for another 5 years.

Woah, 2022 and I find this page too. Here’s the newest SAK to my collection. Standard? Spartan with no tweezers/toothpick? Any idea on the age of mine? Thinking early 80s. Makes me want to pickup a recruit next.81FB1B3C-7F32-4F97-AFD1-487932CF5EB4.jpeg

The hole in the awl makes it not before 1985 according to sakwiki. Does the cap lifter have a half stop or not? If it has no half stop it might be exactly 1985 because that's the year it was added or so they say. I don't know if they changed both tools at exactly the same time, so there could be some overlap.
