Anybody own one of these lockblades from Victorinox? Looks to have just about everything but the kitchen sink, but I wonder if it's too bulky. You could always buy a belt pouch for it I suppose.

The only US site I found it on was here: http://www.swissarmyexpress.com/swisarwor.html There's a good picture and description.

I own a Rucksack, and I like the lockblade design. But I would like to own one with both the corkscrew AND a phillips head screwdriver. I saw a Victorinox Tradesman with both features in one of Buzzbait's posts, but the only sites where I've been able to find this knife are overseas.

I have the WorkChamp's larger brother, the WorkChamp XL. It sports a great selection of heavy-use tools, but it is rather large and heavy. I wouldn't carry it in a pocket.

Victorinox has made a limited edition One Hand Trailmaster with a oval cut in the blade ala Spyderco. This knife is being sold by the Cutlery Shoppe. The blade is partially serrated and it locks. The picture on the brochure looks that the serrations are on the "opposite" site of the blade (the forward section-which makes sense to me for cutting rope). I don't have a scanner so I can't copy the picture. I ordered 3 of 'em.

This run was made for a European military unit based on the TailMaster pattern according to the brochure. It weighs under 5 oz and has the following:

Locking combo knife 3 3/8"
can opener w/small screw driver
bottle opener w/large screwdriver
wood saw
locking phillips
Reamer with sewing eye
wire stripper
toothpick and Tweezers
Key ring

Call the Cutlery Shoppe for more info if you want:

I got my one-hander just last week. Great knife, just wish the lock-up was more solid. It's my new EDC.:)

My Tradesman is a heck of a SAK. It has everything I need in the woods. Scissors would have been a nice bonus, but at the cost of adding another layer to the tools. I needed the file, but didn't need the scissors that badly.

The Tradesman is a sheath knife though. IMHO, the locking SAKS are a bit big for comfortable carry in a trouser pocket.

Thanks for the info fellas. And thanks for getting back to me via email Buzz.

How solid and useful are the pliers on these knives? Could you actually loosen a 1/2" nut with it?

The pliers are plenty sturdy, but small. The maximum size you could loosen would be a 3/8" nut.
