SAK?

I picked this up a few months ago and I am unsure whether this is a pre-Victorinox SAK, officer's model, or something else. I was able to find some info about the name that is nicely engraved on the main blade, and the man was born in Switzerland in 1858 and died in NY in 1946. It appears that his last child may have died in '82. This knife is very solid, quality built, and is in fine shape considering its probable age. I have no idea what the handle material is, whether is is a plastic or horn. Guesses are welcomed. .

I wouldn't want to hazard a guess. Are the blades stainless or carbon steel?
It looks a bit like the first Wenger Officer's knife, to my old (and defective) eyes.

Thumbnails that can't be enlarged make it difficult if not impossible to look at details (such as the tang stamp) that can help ID and age the knife.

something else
This, but not sure what.

To my knowledge Victorinox never used any sort of washer/collar outside (most) of the scale materials like many others did. So that’s the first indicator that it’s not an old Vic. The other quick issues would be tool shapes and pin alignment/layout.

The exception I know of for the washer is for stag horn, but only as a spacer on the shackle rivet.

The blades are carbon steel.

I haven't yet figured out what is going on with my photos, I am used to getting a lot better posting results. My photo processor automatically compacts my photos so they will fit on a gun forum that I participate on, and I am wondering if that is the issue, or is it just user error. Most likely user error. I will try to get it figured out. It is always a challenge to me to learn new forum software; I am admittedly a little dense. ;)

As to the tang stamps on this one, I have gone over it with a lighted magnifier. (In deference to my old eyes) there are not any.
