I think I stepped on someone else's thread and I apologize. The thread about SAKs overwhelmed me; after my recent experience with the Buck whitaker's corkscrew snapping off I have been considering a SAK but within these parameters: convenient pocket size, non-serrated locking blade, corkscrew, bottle opener, possibly a can opener, thats all. Guess one handed opening would be O.K. Suggestions?

Here are some to consider:

Compact -has everything you mentioned, plus scissors and a pen -it is only two layers thick.

Waiter -this is exactly what you are asking for.

The waiter is a little small (one layer), but has exactly what you want. For me, the two layer SAKs are the perfect size, and the Compact has what you need plus a little more utility.

There are plenty of other options as well -if you go to the Victorinox website, there is a place where you can enter in the tools you like and it will automatically show you which models have those tools.

Waiter and compact don't have locking blades IIRC.

How about a Nomad?

convenient pocket size - check
non-serrated locking blade - check
corkscrew - check
bottle opener - check
possibly a can opener - check

The Victorinox Nomad would be a good option. Another option would be the Wenger Evolution S101, which is a bit smaller than the Nomad.

I like and use the Vic Trekker but I usually carry the Vic Soldier.
I have knives costing 5x as much but I always end up carrying the soldier.
I would implore you to try the soldier. But if you must have locking the Trekker is hard to beat.

Mate, take a look at Wenger's Evo series. They are about 90mm (standard size SAK) and they do have locking main blades. Harayasu got it right  the S101 is perfect for your needs.

Why not visit www.sosakonline.com? There're SAK specific peoples, articles, gallery, etc. but most important: reviews. ;)

There's a nice discussion going here but why not direct him to Bladeforums own subforum Multi-tools & Multi-purpose Knives (Discuss all aspects of Multi-Tools, Swiss Army style knives, & related equipment)? ;)

The Nomad fits your requirements. It is nice and flat in the pocket but still very comfortable in the hand. I have been carrying mine a lot lately because it turns out to be a very handy knife for Christmas parties.

Well, I love my SAKs, but am I the only one who think that their corkscrews are not that practical?

I've opened my share of wine bottles with a SAK corkscrew.Plus I like the little screwdriver that screws inside the corkscrew, good for tightening screws on reading glasses.I just have to put my spare specs on to see the tiny slots in the screws.Yes,getting old bites!
