I am waiting on a trade with a local store, which consists of, among other knives, SAKs. I traded for a Vic electrician, and will be giving it to my cousin's husband, who is, wait for it, an electrician. :foot:

I've given them to friends, cousins, siblings, everyone. They make great gifts. A little too good though, I've started giving away my prized Alox models...:D

I've gifted a lot of SAK's over the years . good value for money , and actually usefull ! Also , a good way to recruit future knifenuts .

If anyone knows any computer techs they should give them a Victorinox Cybertool - the best SAK in the world for a computer tech! I have been carrying mine for ~11 years and don't plan to stop any time soon, I still love this incredibly useful tool.

I think sak's make a better gift than a lot of other knives. Don't forget, most people are not knife knuts, but they all recognize a sak. It's the MacGyver syndrome. Boy scouts. The Swiss Army. All these good connotations work for the sak. After all, a country that makes great chocolate and watches must make a nice knife, yes? A sak is a friendly looking knife. There's been times I've taken out a sak in public to do something, and a little old lady will see it and make a comment like "Oh, A Swiss Army Knife! I gave one of those to my grandson last Christmas. He's a boy scout now!"

Given that most people are not into knives, but sometimes have a small office repair to do, or need to open a bottle of wine, or a cold brewski from outside of the twist off cap America, a sak can be a handy thing to have.

I've given out scores of classic's as gifts to non knife people, and a year later, they are still carrying the little sak on their key rings. A couple of them have actually bought new ones when it got confiscated at the airport, and they missed having it. For women, I think it's the little scissors and nail file that do it!;)

Sak's make great gifts for non knife people that we may wish to bring into the cult.

Yep, Victorinox definitely make nice knives, very nice indeed!

Who carries large fixed blade survival knives?
Serial killers!
Who carries Swiss Army Knives?
Boy Scouts!

To avoid grief from paranoid knife-phobics cut stuff with a SAK, anyone that gets worked up over the sight of a SAK is a complete head-case, everyone else will think nothing of it.
Similarly if you give a bushcraft or survival knife to a non-knife person, they will wonder what you expect them to do with it. If you give them a SAK they will carry it and with any luck they'll start using it and grow to appreciate the usefulness of it.

Exactly, even a non knife person will know what to do with scissors, nail file, screw driver and bottle opener.

I may have told of this before, if so I apologize. But several years ago I gave out the little sak classics as stocking stuffers to members of Karen's family. There were several non knife people that would never have a knife on them. At every get together I'd hear "Hey Carl, lend me your knife for a minute" or "Hey Carl, got your knife on ya?" and I was a little tired of it. So I gave out little keychain sak's.

A year later, I had not heard a single call for my knife. They all still had the classic still on the keyrings, on the quick release rigs I had given with them. One, cousin Paige, even had lost the sak to the TSA when they took a flight to the Bahama's for vacation, but had bought a replacement because she had become so used to having a little sak on hand. She loved the scissors and nail file. Cousin Scott is an advertising executive out in California, and never carried a knife. But even at family get togethers now, he checks his luggage so he can have his sak at the other end. These are very well to do Volvo driving liberal people who had never carried any kind of knife. Yet now, they will always have at least the little vic classic on hand. I guess that's a victory of some sort for the red handle wonder from the land of the Alps. I don't think if I had handed out any other knife than the little sak, it would have had the same long lasting effect.

I have given countless SAKs to friends and love ones... its so great to see the quailty gift getting helpfull in some situations... i mostly gave classics, bantams and spartans.

I remember back a few years ago , a former apprentice was stressing over X mas gifts , I directed him to the local Brick and Mortar SAK store . Took care of his whole X mas list , at a moderate price . Lots of good feedback , was able to pick Vic. products for a wide range of lifestyles .

I know i love my electrician SAK...found it on the side of the road when I was walking home from middle school...and I eventually became...wait for it...an electrician :D I like to think that knife chose my fate and future career for me! I would say anyone should be proud and should consider themselves well liked if they get a SAK as a gift, so go for it SilentHunterStudios. In fact, Im considering giving the best man at my wedding the SAK hes been going on about forever as a gift.

The first SAK I ever bought or handled wasn't even for myself, I picked it up as a gift for my brother in law, knowing he wasn't a knife guy I figured I'd get him what I thought at the time to be more of a "starter knife" type thing. I bought him a vic. alox farmer and once I got it home I couldn't stop taking it out of the box and looking it over. I couldn't believe the fit and finish or that I had been carrying a single blade folder on me for all these years. I went out the next day and picked up one for myself. I literally went from years and years of carrying the "tactical" type folder to just a SAK.
