I prefer SAK's that do not have tools on the back, such as the Recruit. Is it just me, or do they look a little prettier than the SAK's that have a philips screwdriver, corkscrew, etc. on the back of the knife?

Pretty is a matter of function as well as form. After the first time you need that awl, PH driver or corkscrew, whether you had one or not may cause you to rethink what is pleasing to the eye.

To me, the prettyist of them all is the Swisschamp. I love the hell out of mine. :)

Speaking of alox, I've got a Soldier, but it's too nice to actually use.

The Victorinox Soldier is a beautiful knife made for using!
Bought a secondhand one, a 1986 in great condition, because it is used I am going to continue to use it and get my money's worth!

justin case :)

I've tried to use it. I really have. However, I had to purchase the Recruit because I simply could not get myself to use the Soldier.

Use that Soldier! Thats what God intended. :D

They aren't that expensive so buy another, or two or three, for keepers, then use 'em.

Then you start looking for particular years of manufacture so you can have one from every year, and only the Soldiers have the year on the blade, with a few exceptions here and there.

Then you want the 93 and earlier models that have the hollow lanyard rivet because they are just cooler the the newer ones.

Then you join SOSAK over on the "other board", and the trouble really begins....

Then the wife starts asking why on earth you need so many knives that look the same and she really doesn't get the point about different years. She starts to look at you a little funny and mentions your knives to your mother.

And you find yourself talking to them.......complimenting their clean alox lines.......bidding on early models on ebay.......and by this point the slow slide into Victorinox senility has become irreversible....... :D :D
