Over at KW the weight is listed at 3 oz while the regular SB is 3.2oz...so is the the LW SB a full tang blade and only the handle material different?

Thanks

Oh and thanks for releasing this one, you guys are killing it with small fixed blades lately...

Hi Matt,

We really won't know the exact weight until the mold is finished and we weigh one.

We're trying to get a field of fixed blades of all sizes. It takes a long time to develop a market that is different from those for which we are known.

I'm hoping it's not a full tang. That is unnecessary; this is a lightweight fixed blade, not a bushcraft. The full tang is over engineering on an otherwise elegant design.

Still, I adore my Street Beats (I've got two), but I love my Street Bowies (I've got four! Yes, it's sickness). The Bowies are not full tang and they are durable, ergonomic, well balanced and lightweight for their size. The lightweight Beat will be -- I've no doubt -- a great addition to this genre of knives.

Fred Perrin's designs deserve attention. I know it's not gonna happen, but a Spyderco version of his larger Bowies would be awesome and a Spyderco La Griffe ... well, I cannot even begin to describe my feelings about that. I've got two Emerson La Griffes (see a pattern here?) and I can easily see buying a couple of the (not gonna happen) Spyderco version. But a guy can dream.

The Swick is essentially a Spyderco version of the La Griffe. Sal apparently even pays royalties to Fred Perrin for use of the finger hole. I just picked one up and like it a lot so far.

Thanks Sal! It is a full tang like the regular SB?

Hi Mattin,

The tang is not a full tang. It will be injection molded like the larger version, but without the Kraton.

Hey DW Alton,

As Matgarsmi. mentioned, the Swick is "our version" of the "La griffe".

Do any dealers have these in-house yet? I've seen the pre-sales & was wondering about the ETA. Thanks!

I am really excited about these. The Street Beat is one of my favorite designs. Lighter and cheaper makes it that much better. I am also on board for satin blade options on the lightweight and Street Bowie.
