Sal - Any chance of a Manix 2 Blue LW w/S30V steel?

I love the Manix 2 & currently own 4 - Manix 2 XL, Manix 2 LW Blue, Manix 2 Black/black w/S30V, & Sprint run blue G10 w/S30V.

It is a great line and my favorite, most used, is the Blue LW. The CTS-BD1 is a suprisingly good steel, but I love the Spyderco version of S30V. It is my humble opinion that a Blue LW w/S30V would be the perfect version of the Manix 2 line. Any thoughts on it?

[Edit: Could I send in my LW & have Spyderco replace the CTS-BD1 w/S30V for a fee?]

I think they used CTS-BD1 to hit a certain price point. They didn't want it to cost as much as the G-10 version. It retails for $20 less.

Agreed, and I assumed that was the case. But that handle with that blade would be the perfect Manix, IMHO. Perhaps there wouldn't be enough interest, I dunno. But if they decided to do a sprint run, I'd be first in line. ;)

That's exactly the case.

A CPM-154 one would make it worth it for me :) Actually the G10 FFG one in that steel would be nice too! *Not to be confused with 154cm.

the BD-1 LW is good for me because its a light use weekend carry knife and my M4 manix is hard use EDC.

But.. I'd be all over a s30v LW manix! I wonder if a standard manix 2 blade would work In The LW so you could make a franken manix? I have both but have never taken them apart to see

I thought about that, but the LW is pinned and not screwed.

S90V is where it's at. I was breaking down double thick cardboard today, and a lot of it. Wiped the glue and crap of with acetone and it's like it was when I sharpened it.

I'm going to have to try that. I have the standard hollow-ground CPM154 Manix 2 and after cutting a lot of cardboard, and I mean a lot, it was butter-knife dull.

I was never interested in the LW Manix, at least until I picked up and handled one. The standard Manix 2 is somewhat heavy, and that makes it feel like a substantial knife for hard use. The LW version is surprisingly light for its size and seemed that it would be a good EDC knife for someone sensitive to weight. I would be more inclined to buy one with better steel, but OTOH I wouldn't want to pay more for it.

If a dealer requested a sprint run of the Manix 2 Blue LW w/S30V steel they might do it ?

One would think so. We see exclusive knife offerings from dealers all the time. I suspect that a dealer would have to order a minimum number to make that happen, but it does happen. Ya reading this Roger? ;)

I have to say, the Manix 2 Blue LW has turned into my favorite EDC. Even my PM2's that I had a hell of a time getting are getting dusty. I would like to see other steels on the LW, but only for giggles. But BD1 works perfect for my needs and is very easy to sharpen....even fun to sharpen.

I think translucent green frcp would be cool on anything. And agree with the 110

For that matter, I think if they went with the 7 colors that you can go with for the Endura and Delica models it would be hugely successful. They already have 2 of the colors covered. It would cause me to immediately purchase at least 2 more.

Yeah. I'd buy a couple more colors as well.
