Just wondering if there is any chance we here in the US will be able to get this knife? I am really interested since I am lefty and could really use the reversible clip. Please say it will be available somewhere. Thanks for any info Nick
Guys, several months ago this subject was discussed at length. Sal said that a limited amount of this model would be made available to us ( and ONLY to us ) here thru the BF store, I do not know what the time frame will be tho. Hope this helps.
Spark said no way. See my thread in the bladeforums store section. Maybe they could be made available to us through Ironstone, Spyderco's factory outlet.
Imagine my surprise to learn that the knife designed by and for this group should be flagging in sales. I didn't vote on it, but now I'm gonna get one to support the forum!
Maybe when more of us put $ where our votes were, a BF Matriarch might then be a real possiblity.
If BladeForums management decides not to offer Matriarchs for members, is there any possibility of making them available through a trusted third party or perhaps directly from Spyderco?
I assume the two factors are limiting distribution to members/collectors and covering the costs of the run (500?).
Joel - The "run" is more than 500 as the black South African version was made at the same time. Paying for the cost of the run is not an issue on this model. We made 500 gray pcs. 200 available to numbered collectors and 300 for BF.
Some folks just don't dig the Native design, myself included... The rest of the knife sounds pretty awesome. Sort of falls under that broad category of personal taste. Personal taste is just that, personal.

Some of us had some issues with Spyderco's advertising policy. Some of us decided we would boycott Spyderco to demonstrate our dissatisfaction. And then some of us still bought the BF Native in order to support our forum. The fact that out of 3000 members we couldn't sell 500 of these unique knives must leave Mike and Spark dissapointed and rather empty feeling (not to mention in the red!).As I recall, this was meant to be an unusual member designed knife as well as a fundraiser to help defray the cost of running this forum. It should come as no surprise they are less than anxious to repeat this service to the members.

PS: Sal- you're continued suport of this forum is exemplary.

Hammer - BF only took delivery of 300 pcs. We still have the other 200 in inventory. The project seemed to have merit. We just made a number of errors in judgement. Certainly don't want to make the same mistake twice...wouldn't be fair to Mike,
Spark or BF.
I thought BF was getting 500 and the Collecters Club was getting 200. When I think that we, as a group, couldn't snatch up 300 of a one-of-a-kind Spydie with a high tech steel... well I'm just embarrassed. Especially considering how many people chimed in concerning steel, handle material, ect. And some people bought several. I just don't know what else to say except "I appoligize for everybody".

Mike - No apology necessary. It was a group project / experiment. We all learned, some people have a very nice knife and we've learned some of our limitations.
Nakano - See what happens when you disappear for weeks on end. You probably missed out on the free Starmates also (just kidding).
