Sal, carbon fibre Military?

I dont' know about you guys, but I've been wanting a carbon fibre Military for quite some time, even before I heard of the one prototype Ferret won. Sal, would you produce a carbon fibre Military if 500 were ordered? And Mike (Turber), would you be willing to make this order? I feel that past special offers by BF have not been that great, I mean, the Matriarch is really quite an irregular knife. As well, the Military has quite a following, and to me is THE quintessential Spyderco (that is a liner lock, otherwise it'd be the endura/delica). Remember how well the carbon fibre ladybugs and dragonflies sold... Naturally they were much cheaper, and I'd expect a carbon fibre Military to be at LEAST $150 discount (since you can get regular 440V ones for $120 on average). Thus it'd be foolish to think all 500 would be sold quickly. However I feel that if Mike and perhaps other dealers were willing to collaborate on ordering these 500 Militaries, they'd be a great seller in the slightly longer run. (this is assuming Sal would make them).

Personally i've always felt the Military superior to the MT Socom, performance wise especially. As some might know, I'm a big MT fan. The only thing I never liked about the Military was the G10 believe it or not, G10 shreds my pants to all hell in short order. And of course carbon fibre is strong enough and rigid enough to support the Military's single recessed liner.

So, of course we need to show them how much we'd want this guys! If it did cost, say $180, who here would get one? I know I certainly would. Come on guys, don't tell me I'm the only one that'd want this!

The proto I won is a thing of beauty...although the prospect of a Ti version spins my wheels more as it would add some heft to the Mil. Am hanging for the CF Civilians in the meantime.

Yes, carbon handles and compression lock! Or Ti handles and frame lock! I would buy both of them, if the price would be under 200 $ each

Before I paid substantially more for CF than for G10, I'd want to see a bit of evolution in the carbon fiber. The Military is a USA product, versus Seki City in the case of the CF Dragonfly and CF Cricket, so I wouldn't assume that it would be the same CF with the same style of finish, but those CF knives, in my humble opinion, were not as nice as Spyderco's stainless models. Now the best CF I've met in a production knife is William Henry, and doing a Military handle to that standard might do such interesting things to the price tag that maybe we'd want to go to 420V or some other super-premium steel to keep a sense of proportion.

Come to think of it, isn't the basic premise of the Military that it is a rugged field knife where looks don't matter? Carbon Fiber is not the sort of thing you want getting roughed up, because re-sanding carbon fiber is not something you want to do without safety precautions. Maybe CF, done up right, belongs on a gentleperson's knife, or a specialized self-defense knife like the Civilian, that won't get constant wear and tear.

James - We can weave the carbon fiber any way we want to.

Dussel - We would opt for a compression lock. It is considerably stronger than a framelock (integral lock).

as always you all know that if another cf model is made ill buy it. i have them on the wall, so wear is not an issue.
