I was at the Blade Show this weekend with my youngest son (12). When it comes to production knives, we collect strictly Spyderco. While we scored several Spyderco knives, the real highlight of the show was an up and coming collector being able to have the accessibility to put faces to names he was familiar with. One of our favorite Spyderco models is the Spyderco C15, the first collaboration between Spyderco and custom maker Bob Terzuola. One of our favorite custom knives we own is a knife made by Bob Terzuola in 1989 that served as the example for what would eventually become the production version of the C15. We had the opportunity to see both Sal and Bob at Blade Show 2025 and show them the custom knife that Bob made in 1989. They were both delighted to see the knife and recalled the stories that led to the C15 being produced.
They both took time out of their day to talk (at length) to my son and both thanked him for his interest in Spyderco and Bob’s work, but also thanked him in general for being a young collector and acknowledged that kids his age are the future. They also took time to sign the Blade 2025 cards that sponsors were handing out.

Chatted with Sal on Fri. Always a cool guy, even when Blade busy. Saw Bob tooting around in his buggy and had a quick hi. Always nice to see him.

What I think is really awesome is that you keep saying "our collection!" I have involved my daughter in my collection as well but it hasn't quite turned into ours yet as she is a bit young and only really interested in using knives in the kitchen so far 😊

Congrats. That's a great story and experience. My 440V bladed Spyderco Terzuola shares space with a 440V bladed Military from the same period.

Great to see your son growing into the hobby. My grandfather got me started when I was a youngster in the late 1950's.
