Sal Glesser, Greek fisherman

I recall reading many years ago that Sal Glesser of Spyderco observed Greek fisherman using curved (hawkbill-like) knives when working on their fishing nets, and this inspired some (forget which, Harpy maybe?) model. Does anyone else recall this?

Someone brought me back a folder from a recent trip to Greece with a curved blade and it brought this to mind, but it's been bugging me that I can remember if it was Sal who said this, or someone else.
