Sal, I just picked up your little Wharncliff (Kiwi), and just love it. I got to thinking though - how about a couple of FRNs' (similar to Delica/Enduras/Natives) with the Wharncliff blades between 2.5 - 4 inchs. A 3.5 'incher'would be perfect.

Please give this your better metals - VG-10 and or S30V. How about it?

What do you other knifenuts think? Is this a great idea, or am I truly just nuts?

I love wharncliffes, I think they're the best EDC shape for me. Truth be known, though, I consider the endura/delica to be modified wharncliffes. Okay, the edge isn't exactly straight, but there's very little belly to it. The point is needle sharp, though it rises along a straight line rather than an angle. It was the realization that I love the delica's blade shape that led me to check out the wharncliffe.

I've been using my new Ronin for general utility for the last few days. (It's my first wharncliff.)

Now I'm looking for a wharncliff folder. I'll definitely be getting a Yojimbo once they're available. I wouldn't mind having a cheaper version, though.

One of the Assist models (I remember it's the Assist II, but I'm not very sure) has a Wharncliffe blade about the size you need.

Hi Peshkabz. We would have to use an existing handle and create a blade for it. To start from scratch and design one would take time and need a new mold (expensive).

The New Centofante III (the new lockback Vesuvius) might lend itself well to a Warncliffe, and Frank Centofante likes warncliffe blades, so he could do the design.

Ask me again after the new Centofante model is out, maybe another 3 months.

It is funny to mention the Vesuvius, because at lunch, I used paper templates on the Vesuvius I recently bought and with my desk-Delca to see how a Wharncliff would look.

I am looking forward to seeing the latest Vesuvius III!

Sal, you and your company keep this man smiling; over and over. Thanks.

PS - the Delica handle looked pretty good too - with my template that looked between a Delica blade and an Assist II blade.

Out of all of this, I hope the blades with be truly straight edged.

Oh yes please Sal :). That's just about my idea of the perfect knife, the handle of the Vesuvius with the blade from the original Centofante, fantastic. I'm afraid I'm going to have to reactivate my "troublemaker" status, I'm not going to let you forget this one :p.
