Just out of curiosity, I was wondering which Military you prefer/carry - PE or SE?

I gave mine away as a gift a while ago (PE) and it's now time to get a new one. I was quite happy with the plain edge, but am interested in the other versions as well. Especially since I don't own a fully serrated Spydie. Thanks.

Hi Kublai. If I'm testing steel, I use a plain edge. If I am using the model "out" and plan on cutting alot, shrubs, etc., then I'll opt for the teeth.

Although I must say that modern "exotic" steels do offer considerably more edge retention that yesterdays steels and the plain edges are better then they used to be as far as staying sharper longer.

Thanks for the reply. What are your thoughts on fully serrated edges for MBC (as applied to the Military)?

IIRC, Sal appreciates the serrated edge because of its ability to stay sharp when coming into contact with other "steel" like belt buckles and wristwatches and buttons and so forth. You could potentially rake your complete edge off, if you´re unlucky. The points protect the shallows, see. Furthermore, with teeth you get a longer edge, i.e. more cutting power. When sharpened properly the only drag you may feel when practicing ballistic cutting, is very personal. I tried the difference between cutting test media (old shirts and jeans stuffed with cardboard) with a PE Delica and an SE Delica. I did feel the teeth drag, but nothing serious, so it´s probably a matter of personal preference. Mine is PE however, but some may tell you that SE does more damage. Well, there´s negatives about that too! To me a cut is a cut is a cut, better test to see what you really like.

My apologies if I come off too much trying to speak in the place of mr. Glesser. This is just a topic I pondered about myself, in the past.

Yes...thanks Wouter. Excellent reply.

Now, where can one get an S30V Military? Everyone seems to have the CPM440V.
