Well, the topic title sums it up.
I understand the difficulty of unloading left handed versions of the higher end Spydies and the ambi clips on the lockbacks are a very ingenious way of satisfying all camps. Sooo, I was wondering if the new locking mechanisms I've read about here on the Spyderco Forum will employ the ambi clip.

Why do they sterilize needles used for lethal injections?

Two plausible reasons I can think of . . .

a) I-V needles and similar things in medical supply channels are normally packaged and sold pre-sterilized.

b) So if that phone in the execution chamber rings, and the governor or some high court says "STOP!" before they turn the valve, they can yank the needle and leave the prisoner uninfected.

And I hope the new Spyder-Lock is ambidextrous too.

Future locks will all be ambi. On linerlocks, we will probably make left versions (except for the FRN models)

The releases may be set up for left or right hand though. Depends on the lock. Clips will depend on the model. Tip up or down, etc.

When will any of these new ambi locking knives be on the market?
I've wanted a BM axis for a while now, because of it's ambi set-up, but maybe I should hold out for the new Sypie-lock (or whatever you'll call it).

Thanks,
Mitch

mitch - They are still on the drawing board. I wouldn't wait. Go ahead and get the axis. It's a very nice piece and a techno piece worthy of any collection.

Sal,

You are a smart businessman. You probably sold a few knives of your own by encouraging an ELU to buy the Benchmade Axis (which is a great knife). Everybody likes a manufacturer who has enough confidence to complement the competition. By the way, I am waiting for the new lock even if it is along ways off!

Sal,
Thank you very much for your honest reply. Any chance you'll be doing a collaboration with Allen Elishewitz in the future?

Sincerely,
Mitch

Mitch - No plans. Though I se Allen frequently, I have never spoken with Allen on the subject. I think that Benchmade is keeping Allen pretty busy.
