Sal -

On the 17th of the month, your warranty department received from me an FRN PE Delica for sharpening. It is actually my brother's knife, whose zeal with our father's old bench stone resulted in a knife that, while fairly sharp, was too fat to let the vg-10 shine.

I spent some time with a small diamond stone and was able largely restore the bevel. However, at my brother's suggestion, I sent it in to warranty and repair for a complimentary sharpening. Having never used Spyderco's sharpening service, I too was eager to see what would come back. 12 measly days after your receipt I received an unexpected gift from the UPS man.

Suffice to say, I am impressed. The little knife is now probably sharper than when it was born.

The issue is, your web site does not specify how much return shipping should cost. I sent the knife along with my contact info, expecting to be contacted regarding the return fee. While I appreciate the gesture, I would feel better if I compensated your company for its effort and expense. If you can tell me what the standard return shipping should amount to, I will happily reimburse you.

Thanks again,

Rob

Yeah, I also found spyderco's customer service very "quiet" and smooth. I once called the customer service to get a replacement of a broken wireclip on my ti-salsa, the guys are out and I left a message and sent an email later. No replies in either phone or email, and suddenly found the replacement in my mailbox.

Hi Rob,

thanx for the info. As you might have heard ;) , our warrantee & repair depatment had incurred some time management problems and was / and is, in the process of a restructure.

We had many repairs that were very late and the warantee & repair team decided to forgoe all charges and get the product back to the customers as wuickly as possible.

We are close to being back on schedule so the normal fees for repairs should be back on line Tuesday.

And people wonder why we keep doing business w/ Spyderco... ;)
Thanks for holding your C.S. as a model to others.
Best,
Mike

I have a FRN Endura I would like to get sharpened. Could I get the address for the "Department of Wonders?" :D
