Don't get me wrong. Spyderco serrations are the best in the business.

But I can't figure out why everyone places them at the REAR of the blade.
Victorinox puts their ...um.... wavy things at the front. Which is still wrong.

Why aren't the serrations in the MIDDLE of the blade? Especially on a longer blade, say over 3".

Cutting rope or boxes, you stick the blade pretty far in but still want some "sawing" space.

Slitting tape or scribing or cutting hobby stuff, you use the tip.

Whittling, you use the part close to the handle. (well sometimes the middle, but closer to handle would still be a good place)

So.........serrations in the MIDDLE would make more sense. To me. Maybe. Unless someone explains why not.

...............and..................

A longer Native would be GREAT.

;) :)

That's why guys like me carry two knives, Lavan. Get the best of BOTH worlds! ;)

Well, nyaah nyaah, ...... I ..... carry THREE!
;) :D

But for a combo edge, it just seems like it would work good.

If you put it in the middle, then what is the use of a part serrated blade? You would not have enough of a plain edge at either part of the blade to be usefull.

would sure look funky imho, and the PE on the edges would be too short for anything, i would either have all PE or all SE or the back 1/3 SE if CE. and thats the way spydie/BM/MT/etc do it,

I agree with the guys above me. Putting the SE part in the middle would be useful, but there's not enough PE to be worth much.

I'd rather just have a nearly-full serration, with 3/4"-1" plain up at the tip. They already do this with some knives, like the Military/Paramillie.

Instead though, I now carry a fully serrated Atlantic Salt and a normal plain edge (non-Spyderco).

Planterz.....Yeh, me too. A SAK with serrations removed and an Endura 50-50.

Just thinkin of ways to combine. But why not just carry two?

:footinmou  :)
