Hey Guys!

i just picked some of this up for use on a cutting board. I was wondering if anyone has experience with this in knife making applications?

I normally use tru oil to finish out my un stabilized wood but i figured i would mess with this stuff to see if it will give the same level of performance and finish.

i'll keep messing with it. let me know if anyone has done and experimenting with this. Thanks again!!

Made by Behlens? If so, I used the stuff on a variety of projects a long time ago. I did a couple of paring knife handles with cherry and maple. Its a good finish that withstands water really well. It is a hard surface finish that is prone to chipping though, unlike oil based finishes.

I think it would be great for a cutting board, and is FDA approved for food prep surfaces if I remember right.

I made a salad bowl and small bowls to match many years ago. After the wood was sanded, I used hot vegetable oil as a finish. I would get the oil as hot as I could stand my hand in it. I took a clean cloth and soaked it in the oil. I applied the oil each time until the wood would take no more. After about 12 applications like this, the wood was saturated. Today, the bowls still look good. I do put some vegetable oil on them once in a while. Hope this helps.
