I have a for sale thread that I tried to move back to the top after 3+ days. The thread registers my new post, but the thread itself is staying on the second page.

Could someone help me figure out what's happening. Thanks.

Have to go to the bottom of the particular forum index, and sort threads by "last post time" for the bump to work.

Thanks. I thought that was the default setting. I don't know how it got switched.

The forum default and exchange rules have changed

It has been a while since I sold anything, so I'm probably not as up to speed on the rules as I used to be. I have re-read the rules, but I don't see anything about a change to bumping a thread. If the 72 hour wait to bump has changed could someone direct me to the specific relevant spot in the rules. Thanks.

The default sort order was changed a while back due to abuse. All exchange threads are now sorted by the date the thread was started and won't bump for any reason under the default sort order. The advantage to this is that comments, questions, etc. won't bump a thread back above the newer ones, so everyone gets an equal amount of time on the front page. You can re-list items in a new thread once every two weeks if they haven't sold.

There were a few folks abusing the bump rules so there were new rules created.

Some folks just could not get into the spirit of things to keep the playing field level for everyone. They were/are just too special. :)

Thanks, I get it now. So there really is no reason to bump a thread then at all, unless there is a price drop.

Keep in mind after two weeks it is OK to create another thread for the same item. (but wait for two weeks :))

A "bump" or new comment will make it show up in the top of the main forum list.. just not in the actual subforum list.. and then it's only shown briefly as there are many new comments which continue to start at the top.. and the side bar when viewing all forums/subforum names will show new comments too. Yeah, confusing, not specific, sorry :D
