Ok heres the deal: My land lords son, who lives in canada. Owns and operates a hunting and fishing guide service. Ive been told that many executives, stars of music and film as well as other well off folks use his guide service. I thought it would be great to make a special mid range knife. One that had a company logo on it perhaps a year. Thes would be a treasured item a fond memory if you will. I beleive his clients would love to show off there trophy elk, and perhaps there great knife they used to skin it. I think the idea is sound (but what do i know). The big question is: Should I send him a free sample, with an introduction, and a wholesale price list? Or should i call him and intro. myself and propose my idea? or perhaps those who chime in here have other ideas.....Help. Oh by the way I also belong to a rod and gun club and had a similar idea about a club knife. It could be displayed with a sign saying "Taking orders"

I would send him a knife to inspect. Make sure it is proper heat-treatment and of the same quality you will be selling him. I would put his company logo on it and send him a free one and a simple proposition. Be sure to give a nice description and spec sheet with each knife. Its always best to sell to him instead of consignment.

Some people will tell you to not give him a free knife but I feel he will jump at the bait. I have sold many knives to an outfitter in Canada. It has paid off in the past for me.

Thanks Bruce.
I hope to run in to ya at some point as well as nick see your work and to bs a bit. I hear theres going to be a casual hammer-in. Its in the state somewhere the city name is a mystery to me at the moment. Hopfully youll be there.

It would be good to meet you too. I bet you are talking about the hammer-in at Tom Ferrys place. I hope to make it there but dont know when it is yet. Nick should know more than I. Tell me if you hear anything.

Good luck with your hunting knife venture.
