I was interested in which you guys prefer, straight out sales, auctions, or both on the knives I normally post for sale? To me, the auctions are more fun, but what do you guys think? After you vote, please post your reason for your choice.

both: I like a mix, buying outright is goo d when you just see somehtign you have to have and no your not going to lose it but auctions are fun and can get you some really good prices

I like auctions personally because, like you said John, they're more fun.

I've bought things for more than I'd pay at tag price in auctions in the past and don't regret it.

Depends on the Knife for the most part ~~ but it is nice to have a choice now and then just to make it interesting.**
One never knows how things will turn out !

I like both. Auctions are fun and so is trying to win the sale!

I like auctions when I think I might get a really good deal on something. But, I also cringe when one of John's knives goes to auction because I don't know if he's just moving it along or if he's trying to put hamburger mac and cheese on the table instead of a nice steak and potato this coming Friday night.

I also like auctions for fund-raisers. Makes me feel like I can contribute to the cause even if I might not win the prize. And if I've got some extra cash around, I like helping out good causes.

I guess I prefer auctions when I don't think I'm taking advantage of someone and out-right sales when I'm not sure. I've always felt that the knives I've gotten from John were well worth the money I paid for them. I don't feel bad about having to save up for something I want. Makes me be a little more responsible with what I've got too.

Unfortunately I auction them so I can pay bills. For example, one of the knives that is ready to ship has not been paid for, which means I don`t have enough in the account to pay myself this week. People seem to think making knives is pure profit, not so. In the last quarter of last year I got paid 8 times instead of the 13 I should have.

I voted both, I like the idea of fundraisers but also I think auctions are good in that I might want to bid on a knife I might not normally buy outright, but on the same token if I were to get a "deal" it would bug me that you have to auction to pay bills. A person should be able to make profit, so it's bittersweet if I explained that right...:) It's not the same as going to some corporate store and getting a "deal".

Sometimes these polls are confusing. Out of the 11 who voted sales, only 1 has ever bought from me. Not sure what to think.

I voted both. I've finally accepted my addiction for what it is and realized that I don't have a need for another knife. This can all change when I see a new pattern and decide it's something I need. If it's posted for sale, I'll buy it. I do however get occasionally caught up in an auction and buy a knife even if I already have a similar size/style. I admit it - I am a JK addict.

I voted both because I like the idea of auction with a buy it now price. Works best for me on e-Bay. Shorter auction times also work well. When I auction my stuff, I post it for 3-5 days. Usually just 3; always sell better that way.

I vote sales. Auctions are fun and I will bid on them but when I've decided I want something, I prefer to buy outright.

Auctions can be fun and exciting but I prefer just buying something I want right away instead of having to wait and bid on the item.
