Sales/Trading Thread Question

Hi all,

Love the forum - fairly new but I have learned a ton and have been able to buy/trade some really great knives. I just have a quick question about updating/editing posts. For example, if I created a thread for items I wanted to trade - they end up getting traded - and now I have more items to trade. Would I create a completely different thread for the new items or would I edit the original to reflect the new items? I looked in the rules and if I missed it I apologize. I just want to ensure I am following the rules!

Better to start a new thread.

Once you start a thread, you cannot repost it for two weeks. Saying it's all new knives doesn't count: it's the same thread URL. Starting a new thread is the legitimate way to begin a two week run before reposting.

Remember also, all items posted in the same section the same day go in one thread. If you want some in a separate thread, post them the next day.
 
Ok, that makes total sense I think. Just one really dumb question - if I create a new thread tomorrow with the same knives I posted to trade today, is that considered a repost or a new thread?

If you do that then you missed the most important point of the rules. You can only list a knife once every 14 days. On the 15th day, you can list it again. That is what the two week repost rule explicitly states.
If you listed a knife yesterday (April 5th), you may not start another thread with that knife again until April 20th. Capisce?
1- List a knife
2- wait two weeks until that knife appears in a thread again
Simple.
 
Ok, that makes sense. I apologize for not understanding and thank you for taking the time to clarify.
 
I'll see if I rewrite that section of the rules to provide further clarification.

Chuck, I think I've been misunderstanding this one myself. I thought if I put up a sales thread on 4/5, then close it on 4/10, I couldn't re-list the unsold knives for 2 weeks from the closing date (4/10), in other words, on 4/24. But, if I'm reading you right, I could re-list them 2 weeks from the original thread's start date (4/5), in other words, on 4/19 (or 4/20 to be safe). Do I have that right?

The rule says: "8.You must wait 14 days (2 weeks) to relist an item", but it doesn't say 14 days from when, hence the confusion.

The date the thread is started is key, the closing date is not of concern. What has been happening is people start a thread, it gets closed for whatever the reason, and they start a new one that same day with the same items.
