Image Identification:
Its a appox. 1940s Schrade Cut Co 3 & 5/16th equal end pen, brass linings, nickel silver bolsters,#7784 3/4 YB ( it has a brother... the 7783 3/4 B). Its synthetic slabs (mottled horn celluloid in catalog) are cracked on both sides but they are tight. No use that I can see other than stored poorly. You can still see the original mirror finish on the blades and its got some wonderful swedges. Both have great snap and no wobble.

Another great looking knife, the handles imitates horn perfectly. A good one :D
Unfortunately I don't have any salesman samples, yet.

I have a couple of Colonial salesman knives. The first is a Barlow with a screwdriver blade instead of a pen blade. Need to find a picture of the other.

Have a United Cutlery folding hunter that I got off the bay. There are no marking on the blades at all. The writeup said it was a salesman's knife that was left with his father that owned a hardware store. Notice the poor place to put a nail nick on the main blade. Sure makes it hard to open.

Here's a set of Florist knives from a salesman's roll. I bought these from A.G. Russell, a number of years ago. Because they are celluloid-handled, the price was right. They still seem to be in excellent condition, but I am always a little leery, and check on them fairly often.

There is indeed something exciting about finding a well kept, unused old knife! As close to a time machine as we are likely to come!

This is a great idea for a thread. Sadly I have nothing to add content wise, only my compliments for your fine additions folks.

Charlie, they are a particularly nice set.

Nice stuff everyone. I have a soft spot for old knife store displays so this is right up my alley.

Christian, judging by the pic (elsewhere) of your beautiful family, I suspect you know what "it" is, and perhaps you say it often!!:)

Music to my eyes, Charlie! They sure are untouched beauties and I love the advert on them.

Thanks, Mike

Thanks for your wonderful additions, Edbeau

Scruffuk, thank you sir

Hahaha...just joshing with you Charlie. The missus doesn't speak flowers though. Strictly chocolate with her. :D

Nice knives, all of them. I'm curious, si the allure of salesman knifes because they are rarities, or...?

Charlie already said it best, " There is indeed something exciting about finding a well kept, unused old knife! As close to a time machine as we are likely to come!"

I must admit, I have been lucky sniffing out these "inky" knives. This stag-handled bunch is probably in the "Elusive Schrades" thread, but deserves mention here as well I suppose.
Smaller "Gents" type knives, they may have cost more than larger Jacks of their time period.

Kinda cool that 2, 3 and 4 blades are represented.

Here they both are. I guess they were so you could order your business name on the knife (have a few of those).

Nice examples, Ed!!
I like the electrician's option. Sold!!

I'll take twenty five with my name on them!!:D
