I've been searching for a particular thread here with no luck... Sal once wrote a post--I think the thread was about the "appearance" of Spyderco knives--in which he said something pretty wise about the reasons why we choose our wives. The idea was that some of us take into account many important aspects of a person when choosing a mate. Does anyone remember this thread? Can't find it... Thanks.

That's not the one, although Sal does have wise things to say in that one too (as he usually does). The one I'm looking for had something like "some of us choose our wives for other reasons..." but probably not that exact phrase.

Thanks for trying to find it, though.

Shmackey,
I remember the line you speak of, but not the exact words. I believe Mr. Glesser said it around 2000, it may have fallen to the prunning of late. If it has fallen, you may want to ask about the threads saved by a forumite (Voorde, I believe) and, hopefully, still available for download. Wish I could be more helpful.

Something I bet Sal wished he had said:-

Men should not choose their wives for their prettiness, anymore than they eat birds for their sweet song. ;)

Paraphrased from "Cold Mountain", the book, not the film.
