This is a stupid question but, How do you swich the clip?

I took out the clip screw. . . What do I do next?

Thanks,

fisherman

Fisherman,
I own the Ti Salsa so there is no changing the clip on it, but I thought I remembered someone having to remove the barrel bolt to facilitate the change.
Hope it helps.
Chris

Highly technical description to follow:

first take out the lanyard hole screw thingy (you've done that)

then you have to force out the barrel shaped spacer that is in between the liners around the lanyard hole. This process is fairly difficult as the barrel spacer fits in there very tightly. the clip should now be free.

switch it to the other side, put the spacer back in, put the lanyard hole screw thingy back in. you're done!

Thanks for your help-

I was thinking that I was going to have to remove the little torx screws . . . you saved me a lot of struggle!

I actually had to gently tap the barrel thing out with a hammer and screwdriver. While I had it out, I filed down one side to give more clearance for the blade when it's closed. I have an early Salsa that very lightly contacts the barrel spacer when closed with any force, leaving a small flat spot on the blade. After this little 2 minute mod, I haven't gotten any more flat spots....

Hi Fisherman. We screwed up on the design of the clip on the Salsa. We made some changes in the initial mfg process and there were some glitches we didn't anticipate. For the next few runs, there won't be a left hand option. Then when the model has been out for a while and we get feedback, we'll make the redesign changes. We've gotten qite a bit of feedback from ELUs that are using the model. I think our CQI will bring this pattern into the best for what it was designed for.

Thanx number three, your way is easier than what we've been suggesting.

Sal,

I, also, noticed a flat spot on the blade and took it off with my 204 . . . it came back again. Yesterday I was opening the knife when I heard a cracking noise, it was the cobra hood coming loose---I had not messed with the torx that holds it in place.

This knife was a gift for my father, and so far it been nothing but an epic struggle. I have never had a problem with spyderco in the past, so making a complaint feels very unpleasant
:(

I put an email into customer service but they have not replyed yet.

I think you are better off calling customeer service than trying to email them.

No lefty in future runs?!!! I am in love with the Salsa and was planning to get a couple of more once the bugs had been ironed out. I am disappointed that I will be unable to enjoy the Salsa now along with so many other Spydies that don't accomodate left hand clip usage...

Though switching the clip was tough, it wasn't so tough that switchability should be axed entirely...

NO "Lefty" option for the Salsa???.:(. What the heck is up with THAT, Sal???.:(. There really ARE MANY "Leftys" here in the World who LOVE Spydercos!!...And you can count me right on top of that list.:).
PLEASE don't slam anymore doors shut on us...PLEASE!!!

The no lefty option is temporary. We will be adjusting the tooling to the original clip design which is easier to change over from right to left.

Thanks Sal...Now I can relax again!.:).

...But where the heck is a "Lefty" Chinook???.:D.

(Seriously...Is there ANY WAY that Spyderco could/would move the pocket-clip on one of MY Chinooks over to the "other side" of the scales for me?.).
