Salsa size comparasion

Great pics. When will the Ti version be on sale? I like the green Salsa I just wish it didn't have the Salsa logo on it :(

The only delay on the Ti version is that they are being numbered.

I also have mixed feeling about the logo on side of Al version. I do like the finish on the Salsa's Almite, which isn't slick/slippery like the Almite of the Lum Chinese or Mouse.

Thanks Carlos, you always come up with the info - so how many Ti versions are being made - and will they be on sale at the usual online vendors? Also what is the blade steel?

I like all the Salsa colours, I love the matt almite finish, I don't mind the word 'Salsa' being written anywhere on the knife....I just wish there was a choice to have a 'No chili pepper' version.

Bad for my haemerroids LOL ;)

>so how many Ti versions are being made

Not sure how many are in the first production run -- we need someone from Golden to chime in. Keep in mind that the Collectors Club will be getting the first 200. Hopefully there will be enough left over to go around before the second production run arrives.

>and will they be on sale at the usual online vendors?

Yes.

>Also what is the blade steel?

ATS-34.

It's silly, but the pepper graphic and "Salsa" are a big turn-off for me too. I would probably have bought one of these if they weren't marked up like that.

I have to comment here. I have a green Salsa like Keith does but the logo is not quite as glaring as it looks in the first and third pics. It's much more subdued, closer to what's pictured in #2.

Keith's pictures are wonderful, but I do think the lighting angle over emphasises the logo.

But that's just my opinion. Anyone else care to comment?

PS I think the Salsa is a great knife at a great price.

nomaded-

you are exactly correct about the lighting. The first and third pics were taken in haste and in the evening when I have to rely too much on artificial light. The second pic was taken in natural light and the logo looks closer to 'reality' than the other two.

btw- I love this knife. If you are passing it up because you are afraid you wont look 'tactical' enough with a chili pepper on your knife you are really missing out on an awesome little blade. I havent taken it out of my pocket since I got it [well except to sleep]. It is definite winner.

I have a blue Salsa and use it as my EDC. While I agree that the pepper logo is very well done and quite subdued, I still wish there were an option not to have a logo on one of the colours -- for those of us who would be happier without it, and for those who have a strong aversion to it.

Of course there is the Ti Salsa (no logo) but that model is at a much higher price point and thus a different market than the Al ones.

The pepper logo is ultimately a minor detail. IMO the Salsa is one of the most significant knives ever introduced by Spyderco.

The whimsical logo decreases the sheeple pucker factor, which can be an advantage at certain times. I see it as a plus. There are plenty of tactical-looking knives, so I'm glad to see this offering.
