I will be heading to Destin FL in a couple weeks and am thinking of bringing my kayak. I have a field and stream eagle run 12', and I've never put it into anything other than lakes. My question is would this kayak do alright? It is 12' long, around 30" wide, and is sit-in. I'd really like to do some fishing from it, but I don't want to get in over my head. I just wasn't sure how it would stand up against the waves.

Somewhat off topic, anyone fish Destin? I've been the past few years and have found some good spots, but I'm always interested in learning more.

dont take a sit inside anywhere near the beach, rent a decent sit on top why you are there made by ocean kayak, malibu, jackson, wilderness systems, cobra to name a few..
i would browse texasKayakfisherman. com's BTB(beyond the breakers) section for the most amount of offshore saltwater kayaking knowledge available to the internet using enthusiast.
i have personally put in over 100 trips offshore of texas on a sit on top in the last 4 years, message me if you have any questions if you like
stay safe, equipment and planning are everything, there are a growing number of people in the gulf fishing successfully from kayaks offshore for bigger and bigger fish..plenty of people doing it in florida and there are way more kayak guides there than Texas(where there may be none lol)
