I would like someone to make me a Sam Browne for a sheath I'm having made.
I saw one on a Bagwell sheath that was disc shaped. I would want the screws to be drilled and tapped for 8/32 screw threads so a standard Chicago screw. I would like it to be antiqued brass or nickel silver. Anyone interested?
Thank you... Cal

I'm talking about a button/stud that is on the outside of the sheath to prevent the sheath from sliding through the belt down into the pants.
It allows for you to wear your sheath in your belt as opposed to hanging from the belt.

Are you talking about one like on this sheath? Sorry I don't have a side photo of it.

Yes that appears to be what i'm looking for. Do you have something like that kicking around?

Cal

I don't, That was made by a local maker. i could contact him and see if he will part with one (Unfortunately knowing him he will charge a fair amount and not reveal his source) I will see what I can do tomorrow.

I know this will make you laugh, but.....
Go to the local Home Depot or other hardware center. Go to the isle with all the cabinet hardware. Look at the rows of drawer knobs. They have 8-32 threads and come in almost any shape. I bet you can find one in an antiqued finish and surely in stainless or nickel finish. If the shaft is too long, you can probably cut/grind it down.It may cost all of $2.

Haha... looking at it, Probably exactly where it came from!

Sorry, but there's no way a drawer pull is going to have the dimensions necessary to make it suitable for a sheath stud.

They are pretty easy to make for someone with a lathe, but they're going to charge you at least an hour at shop rate. Unless you know somebody who works for beer or doughnuts or something ;) LOL

These are some studs I've made and sent to Master leather craftsman Paul Long for sheaths he made for my knives.

And no, I'm not fishing for the work in the slightest bit... just showing that these are not anywhere near the same size as a drawer knob.

Nick Love your knobs (That sounds wrong) they are definitely what I would go with if I was having Paul make up a sheath. It seems like the wide base would be really stable compared to the ones at hardware stores. But for me and my sheaths it looks like the hardware store knobs would work.

Ckeck out my last three links. They are what you want. I was mostly kidding about the knobs ( but, as you say, thew could work).

Nick must be that ole ADD got you all over the place. Get on back to your bench. One of these days I'm going to get me one of your super fine knives! ;-)
