I've been repairing a couple of folders for a friend so I worked on this one in between colorful phrases to help preserve what sanity I have left :)

4" 1095 blade, Bronze guard with Sambar stag, 8.5" o.a.length

Holy crap  that is sweet, beautifully crafted and perfect blend of subtlety and style. I haven't seen a knife that screamed gotta have it like that in a while. What is the spacer??? Hammered brass???

Dave, you seem to blend in a good dose of Dave Kelly flavour in your fixed blades. The handles maintain the look of your folders and your spacer treatment carried through as well. Also, one of the more unusual temper line patterns around too. You never fail to amaze. Jason.

I don't usually like temper lines and even try to avoid them but that one looks really nice. If I could get lines that clean I definately would. Did you use clay on that? Really cool!

Thank you very much!

ANGRYMOB, it's stippled bronze

Ray, I used a modified clay treatment that I discovered by accident on a folder blade a while back. It reminded me of a tornado and I experimented until I was able to duplicate it. I used to normalize before applying the clay but that time I applied the clay first. After the last cycle I noticed a hairline crack in the clay but decided to finalize heat treatment anyway. During the quench the clay broke off in front of the crack towards the tip and left this type of line. To duplicate it, I basically artificially create the crack before the final heat.

That is a super-clean blade!! Love the style and execution. :)

Wow! That is a very cool lookin knife to say the least!

The temper line is very interesting and the stipled bronze spacer is a great finishing touch to the handle.

That one will definitely make someone very happy.

That is one of the nicest hunters I have seen. I love when a design has flow, and this has it in spades.

By the way, I think it is a wise move to change your user name to your actual name. It helps indentify you better to those interested in your knives.

Yep. That's a sweet knife all right. Beautiful design and execution. And you've got an eye for subtle embellishments that add some zing without looking the least bit fussy or overdone - the stippled bronze here is a terrific touch.

I really appreciate the positive comments about this knife!

Keith, I should've done it a long time ago, better late then never.

Thanks,
Dave

wow, I REALLY like that.........I usually don't spend too much time looking at knives I can't use hard but, DAM! That is really, really beautiful. My compliments.........

Geeze.....That is really amazing. Love the stippled bronze spacer and gorgeous handle. Very interesting clay tempering technique also.... Love it.

Dave,

This one is so good looking that I was speechless for several days. The tornado hamon is gorgeous.

You were right though. Compared to this beaut, your shop knife does look a little rough. ;)
