A newby question, what makes sambar stag so special? And why?

Hengelo 77, it is the densest stag (is that a word?) It has a very small pourous center and good coloring after the bug dope is put on it.

now i have a newbie question, whats the bug dope thing? does it help to polish?

No, it is a compound (use to know what it was called but age is my enemy) that keeps from importing any kind of bugs from India. Just darkens the color some...no help on polishing. My understanding is that a lot of imported items go through some sort of process to kill potential harmful organisms.
