I saw those and they did catch my attention, the models I'm talking about are the E1130, E2370 and the B2100
I like the simplicity and the toughness they seem to have, and the fact they still are and look like just simple phones, with only basic options.
anybody have one of those ? if so, any impressions ?
thanks

I don't know how the Samsungs are. However, I have a Casio G'zOne and find it works for what I need a cell phone to do. I will say that, if you use your phone hard, the camera lens will likely go south because it will get scratched up. I don't use the camera, so it doesn't bother me.

I have the Samsung Rugby II and I am pleased with it so far. When I first got it in early December the battery wouldn't hold a charge though. The dealer swapped out the battery from another unit in stock and it has been fine since, charging quickly and holding a charge up to a week with occasional use. I got this model because I am prone to submerging phones. I build and service swimming pools. It is fairly heavily built, much heavier than my previous phones of nearly the same size. All of the access ports have rubber plugs. I am DHOH and this unit will adjust both on ring volume and speaker volume for me to hear it. Buttons are large enough for me to see easily and use withiout a stylus. Reception seems good so far, but other brand units sometimes have better reception when mine fades out. That probably has to do with their carrier, not the phones. Our construction season is just starting up here, so I am yet to see how well it fares with submersion, vibration and impact. All in all I am pleased so far.

as for some comments, the torchlight led on this phone is very bright, the sound quality is more than decent, both for music and conversations, the lanyard hole accommodates a string of 550 paracord easily, the phone is all rubber (urethane samsung says...), and it should resist well to water and dust, and the battery life seems ok, with its 1000 Mah battery , after 3 days still has 3 bars on the indicator, from 5, and i've done messaging, some calls, listen to a few songs, and used the flashlight couple of times.

I have a brigade, I've run over it, and called it from the bottom of a hot tub. Still works fine.

I looked at the samsungs, and I dug them (though I've never been a huge fan of their GUI's)

Thing was, even though I too was in the "all I want is a simple phone" camp, since all my friends do is text, having a messaging phone is boss.
